We can order material samples and samples of the various finishes for venetian blinds and advise on different styles of window blinds that would suit your home and lifestyle - from living rooms and dining rooms to kitchens, breakfast rooms and bedrooms.
Which blinds suits which window?
Below are some suggestions of which blinds suit which windows best. Please note this is only a guide.
- Roman Blinds: Roman blinds offer a more formal style and therefore are best suited for a living room, dining room or bedroom.
- Roller Blinds: Roller blinds are ideal for a kitchen, utility or bathroom. You can also use roller blinds for patio doors.
- Venetian Blinds: Venetian blinds are best suited for an office, study or conservatory.
- Sliding Panel Blinds: Sliding panel blinds can be used for bi-folding doors, in a bedroom or spare room
Window blind types explained
We are here to help you with your order for custom made blinds and to follow are the different types of blinds that are available. However if you have any questions, please do contact our interior design shop and we'll be happy to help you.
Our roman blinds are hand-sewn for quality and precision. By hand-sewing the blinds you reduce the amount of sewing holes in the material, which are visable when light shines through the blind. We have a wide range of fabrics to choose from to ensure that your blind is a perfect match and tailored to your scheme. Each roman blind is lined with an ivory coloured lining. If your blind is for a bedroom, you may wish to have it in a black out lining, to reduce the amount of light to a minimum that comes through the window.
Roller blinds are a great choice for kitchens and bathrooms, providing a more modern look. We can have almost all of our fabrics laminated to make bespoke roller blinds and provide a moisture resistant finish. Please note that some fabrics are better suited to being laminated, on which we can advise you.
We provide an extensive range of wooden venetian blinds, tailored made to compliment any room decor. You can choose from a huge range of finishes and colours which include wood shades, wood colours from pastels, neutrals to black, laminated woods, which provide a consistent colour and are free from knots and imperfections, distressed woods, high gloss and metallic woods.
You can choose the width of the slats from 25mm - 50mm. We also provide a shutter style venetian blind, which has 65mm slats with an elliptical shape to give a colonial style shutter, which oozes sophistication.
As an alternative to wooden venetian blinds we also provide aluminium venetian blinds, which are available in a variety of stylish colours. The slats come in various sizes from 16mm - 50mm.
Sliding Panels offer a modern, sleek alternative to curtains or blinds, you may wish to choose a sliding panel. Sliding panels can be made in any of our fabrics and are all made-to-measure to your exact requirements. For practical and aesthetic purposes we recommend that you have the system fixed to the ceiling, however wall brackets can be supplied as an extra if you wish. A draw rod is supplied with each stack either in white or stainless steel or you can have them cord operated.
Sliding panels are very versatile and can be used not only as a blind but also as a room divider, a screen or in replace of a cupboard door.
At an additional cost you can have an remote controlled, electrically operated sliding panel system, which is available with a 12v DC motor situated just behind the track on the left hand side.
Bespoke window blinds - lined or unlined
We provide quality made-to-measure blinds, using the premier blind tracks and mechanisms by Silent Gliss. You can choose from roman blinds, roller blinds, venetian blinds or sliding panel blinds. We can give advice on whether you should have your window blinds lined, interlined or with a black out lining - perfect for bedrooms and children's nurseries but the choice is yours.
