How to start a colour scheme for your home
We are happy to share our process with you for creating beautifully designed home interiors and soft furnishings.

After you have had an opportunity to view our wide selection of fabrics, wall papers and paint, we can then make arrangements with you for an informal chat to discuss your interior design requirements. Whether it’s to discuss the measuring and making of a single pair of made to measure curtains, putting together a colour scheme for a single room or a complete house interior design scheme with soft furnishings and made to measure furniture.
This design consultation is free of charge and can be arranged either in our interior design shop in Wiltshire or in the comfort of your own home.
Time: 1-2 hours
The next stage from our discovery meeting is to make an appointment to visit your home or the property you’d like our design services for. This is so we can get a feel for your likes and dislikes and measure windows for curtains and/or blinds if you’d like them. We can also see where light comes in and the colours that would suit the room or rooms depending on the direction the windows face. We aim to make a home visit within the same week or a time and day to suit you.
Time: 30 minutes - 1 hour
Armed with all the information obtained from our site visit we would then start the process of looking through our pattern books to choose a selection of fabrics, paints and wallpapers to suit. This can include furniture styles, curtain tracks and poles as well as colour schemes if required. The process for collating interior redesign ideas and colour schemes usually takes a couple of days. We will then present to you our recommendations at our next meeting.
Time: 2 - 3 days
Once you are happy with the selections made, we will then produce a quotation detailing all the aspects of our interior design services, the materials chosen and the items we will be making for you. There will be two copies which will include our terms and conditions to be signed by both parties.
Time: 1 day
We will then require a deposit to be paid to get the works into production. The work can include handmade curtains and blinds - all made to measure - handmade cushions, reupholstering of furniture and/or making bespoke made to measure furniture.
Time scale for made to measure curtains, custom made blinds, and soft furnishings is approximately 4-6 weeks from date of order.
Time scale for handmade furniture can take approximately 8 weeks.
When everything is ready, we will contact you to make an appointment to install curtain tracks, poles, hang curtains, blinds and deliver any furniture that you have ordered.
Time: Dependant on quantity of curtains, blinds, wallpaper, paints and furnishing ordered.
Glossary of Terms
Home accessories - A home accessory is any item that can be used to decorate your home, such as an ornament, candle, picture frame for example.
Lined curtains - Lined curtains have an ivory coloured lining hand-sewn onto the back of the curtain fabric, which protects the fabric from the elements.
Blackout lining - This is an ideal option for a bedroom where you want to restrict the light coming in from the window.
Interlined - Interlining is a padding which is sewn in between the lining and the curtain fabric to add a luxurious feel. Interlined curtains also minimise any draft that may come through the window.
Finial - A decorative end to a pole, which come in many designs and finishes. They can be matched to the colour of the pole or provide a contrast to the pole.
